Geological Discovery and Exploration
The story of our company begins with the geological exploration of the Kamianobridskyi deposit in the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine. Extensive geological surveys, drilling, laboratory analysis, and industrial reserve calculations confirmed the exceptional quality and long-term potential of the labradorite reserves in this area
Opening of the quarry
The Kamianobridskyi deposit officially began operations in 1987, becoming one of the first labradorite quarries in Ukraine. During this period, the quarry was operated by the local collective farm of the village Kamianobridka, and the stone was primarily used for crushed stone production. Decorative blocks were not extracted due to the mining methods used at the time
The Discovery of Volga Blue
Everything changed in 1998, when Mykola Melnyk obtained the official license to develop the deposit and introduced a new vision for the quarry. With modern equipment and a dedicated team, the extraction of large decorative blocks began, revealing for the first time the striking blue crystal structure that would later become known worldwide as Volga Blue Classic
